Support Us

Each year we engage in local community projects, fundraising events, and promotional activities to promote sustainable development and raise funds for our partner organisations. Keep in touch for more information on future activities. We are also grateful for support we receive from family and friends. You can make a donation on line.

Merino Makeover

Do some of your favourite merino clothing now have a hole or two? Instead of putting in the rag bag why not donate your pre-loved merinos to Ankuro. We will transform these into ‘new creations’ – baby and children’s clothing, beanies, and other accessories. We are also accepting pre-loved denim to be made into re-usable shopping bags and children’s treasure bags.

Recycle/Upcycle Challenge

Are you interested in creating something special from pre-loved/recycled material? We are looking for ‘artisans’ who are keen to create items for us to sell on-line and our at our Annual Lake Tekapo NZ Made Fete. Our theme is ‘recycle/upcycle’ – we are grateful for any donations of home-crafted jewellery / clothing / crafts / felted goods.

Make a Change – Make A Difference (MACMAD)

Amidst the busyness of life, it is often difficult to find the motivation to make a change – a change to the way we spend our time, our energies, and our resources. MACMAD believes that all individuals have the potential to make positive change – we can all make a difference in our own lives, within our communities and within our global world. We just need a little help.

MACMAD was established to provide a fun and challenging way for New Zealanders to work towards their own lifestyle goals – while raising awareness and funds for people in need. Setting goals and making a commitment to them is the first step in making positive change, and when the cause is bigger than ourselves we feel compelled to really give it a good shot. MACMAD’s support structures provide guidance and encouragement throughout the journey. Increasing awareness of local and global issues is an important part of the process.

In 2012, 10 individuals set a ‘lifestyle’ challenge for themselves – a goal to work towards over a 10-week period. Each individual was encouraged to invite their friends and family to support them on their journey and pledge a donation ($10). All proceeds from this project went directly towards our Ankuro orphanage project. This is an exciting project that we hope to facilitate again soon – every little bit counts!

Craft Products for Sale

We are excited to be able to sell a selection of Nepali made hand-crafts. Funds from these sales provide an income for disadvantaged woman and their families. Craft workshops have enabled woman to learn a new skill, improve their numeracy and literacy, as well as increase their confidence and wellbeing. Their children now have a brighter future with access to healthcare and education. A range of colourful felt products and jewellery is available online.

Ankuro also has a range of quality designer t-shirts for sale – you can purchase these online. Thanks to designer Sabina Erikson and Global Culture for their support of this fundraising activity. Photo-blocks of these designs are also available. The three different designs reflect the Ankuro vision – sow, nurture, and grow. All profits made from the sale of these products will go towards our Nepali partner organisation – Kevin Rohan Memorial Eco-Foundation.
